Benevolent Behaviours
In my Instructional Design and Human Performance Theory classes, I had the opportunity to approach the same project from two different angles. For this project, I chose a Benevolent Behaviours Initiative through a local school board.
From an Instructional Design perspective, in my Needs Analysis it was determined a short e-learning module was necessary to deliver the content and the projects following the Needs Analysis reflect the design phases of planning and designing this module.
From a Human Performance Theory perspective, my Performance Needs Analysis lead me in a different direction, addressing the performance of teaching staff and students, their relationships within and outside of the classroom, and how they interacted amongst themselves and with each other. The projects following are the design phases planning out and designing interventions to be conducted as part of this performance improvement campaign.
I found working on the same project an interesting challenge. I learned training isn't always the answer: that often the situations organizations find themselves require an objective third party to take a look and find what on the surface maybe appear to be simple solutions. Whether simple or not, these solutions are powerful and innovative and it is encouraging to have had an opportunity to explore a single project with two different sets of lenses.
